Today I walked out of my favourite coffee shop and saw a strange sight at the traffic intersection (Cnr of Swanston & Latrobe Street, Melbourne). About a 100 people stood in silence and respect as they bowed their head listening to the solemn Anzac trumpet sound. Suddenly, I realised what this meant and stood still as mark of respect. It was the 11th hour of the 11 day of the 11th month (the day the 1st WW ended). My Grandfather fought in this war (and the next one). It is inspiring to see we still haven’t forgotten the tremendous sacrifices that were made by many men and women in service to their country. Australians have over 100k war dead in all the 20th century wars. We have made a tremendous contribution in maintaining security in the world: Lest We Forget.
